Beyond Anthropocentrism: A Post-humanist Critique of African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights v Kenya [2017] 2 AfCLR 9
This commentary examines the ACtHPR’ decision in the Ogiek case, assessing its recognition of indigenous land, cultural and religious rights against the limitations of an anthropocentric approach to environmental justice. Drawing on posthuman theory, it argues for a broader conception of equality and legal protection that considers potential rights of non-human life and ecosystems.
